Over the years the lower level at Wayside Sewing has grown. Though it still contains our classroom overlooking Hager Pond, it also houses our Repair Room, Sewing Furniture Gallery, Discount Area, Long Machine Sales, Long Arm Supplies, Electric Cutters and Luggage. If stairs are an issue, you can enter the lower level directly from the side parking lot.

Over the years we have added many new brands, the most recent was the addition of the Brother sewing machines. These wonderful machines have some very unique features like the MuVit dual feed system. MuVit uses a motorized foot and a belt driven feed, no teeth! This gives a very smooth ride over all layers and thicknesses. The Innoveye 2 technology lets you see a live magnified image with a close up of the project under the needle, perfect for precision piecing and placement.  For those who feel they need a creative consultant to help them with thread choices and color selections, the Color Shuffling feature gives you the option to view your designs in a wide range of threads/colors to help you find the perfect selection for your project.  These and so many other features were why be brought Brother on board.

Fabric is a staple for any sewing store. There never seems to be enough. We try to carry a wide range of fabrics from cottons, to knits, and some silks in there too. When we opened in 2007 we had only received our first order of fabric and had 300 bolts on hand for our Grand Opening. 

I had been challenged to open the store before 2007 closed; probably because I had made a commitment the prior January to do just that. So with only 6 weeks to find a store front, complete my dealer paperwork and all of the required training classes for sales and service, as well as completely refinishing the inside of the store (we even had to finish the stairwell). It was a lot to do but we did it. Now of course we have around 3000 bolts here at any given time. The selection has grown and we hope you find what you are looking for.

As our fabric has grown so has our offering of sewing machines, sergers, embroidery machines, long arms and more.

Carole was the first employee to join Jill at Wayside sewing. Her years here were a great help in getting the business off the ground. She was quickly joined by Diane behind the cutting table. Together it was an awesome team. Over the years we have been lucky to have had some wonderful women (and men) behind the cutting table. All their help and expertise are important to our continued growth.

There are three ponds around the historic Wayside Inn. These are Carding Mill pond located behind the Inn, Grist Mill pond located next to the grist mill and Hager Pond located right outside our classroom window.
